Advanced Research Mentoring Level 2: Addressing Meaningful Engagement (Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center)

Advanced Research Mentoring Level 2: Addressing Meaningful Engagement (Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center) In-Person

This session is part of a 2-part training series for mentors affiliated with the Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center. Ready to continue your mentoring journey?

In Advanced Research Mentoring Level 1, you discussed the importance of assessing mentees’ understanding and how to best facilitate their learning. In this session, mentors will expand upon this idea by considering how to foster trainee success.  Achievement of the Advanced Research Mentoring Level 1 badge is required to attend this workshop.

By the end of this two-hour session, faculty will be able to:

1. Expand understanding of meaningful engagement in the research setting and how it impacts trainee success

2. Recognize the potential impact of conscious and unconscious assumptions, preconceptions, biases, and prejudices on the mentor-mentee relationship and reflect on how to manage them

3. Identify concrete strategies for building relationships with trainees to foster a positive learning environment
