Advanced Research Mentoring Level 1: Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center In-Person
Developing the next generation of researchers, and diversifying the research workforce, requires intentional and effective research mentoring. Join CIMER trained research faculty for this in person interactive session where we will explore evidence-based practices for supportive and equitable engagement in research. This session is part of a 2-part training series for mentors affiliatied with the Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center. This session also satisfies the mentoring training requirement for all mentors with T32s, MARC, IMSD, and PREP research scholars. Active participants in this session are eligible to receive the VCU Credly Advanced Research Mentoring Level 1 badge. By the end of this two-hour session, faculty will be able to:
- Communicate effectively with trainees utilizing active empathetic listening and awareness of backgrounds and communication styles
- Determine appropriate and achievable expectations for trainees based on their experience and career goals
- Understand the importance of and be able to generate a mentor/mentee compact
