Advanced Research Mentoring Level 2: Fostering Independence and Promoting Professional Development In-Person

This final sessions of the Advanced Research Mentoring Level 2 will allow participants to engage with the remaining topics in the curriuculum and refine their mentoring philosophy. Attendance at the last two sessions, as well as the previous two, and active participation will allow the participant to achieve the Advanced Research Mentoring Level 2 Credly Badge. Attainment of the ARML1 Badge is a prerequisite for this session.

Learning Objectives:

1. Employ strategies to build confidence, establish trust, and foster independence

2. Identify the benefits and challenges of fostering independence, including the sometimes conflicting goals of fostering independence and achieving grant-funded research objectives

3. Identify the roles mentors play in the overall professional development of their mentees

4. Initiate and sustain conversations with mentees on career development

5. Engage in open dialogue on balancing the competing demands, needs, and interests of mentors and mentees
