SOM Teaching and Learning Boot Camp (Face-to-Face) In-Person
**Note: This Boot Camp will be "Face-to-Face" in MMEC 3-101.
Whether new to teaching UME or seeking a refresher on frequently used strategies, this boot camp will leave you excited and prepared for the coming semester!
Join Diane Biskobing, MD; Jean Bailey, PhD; and Katherine Henderson, MEd, to dive into evidence-based learning methods, instructional strategies for teaching, and hands-on experience revitalizing a learning session. We welcome the VCU Community’s participation!
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Describe 3 evidence-based strategies for learning, including spaced repetition, interleaving, and retrieval.
- Describe 3 instructional strategies used in UME at VCU SOM, including TBL, POGIL, and Just-in-Time-Teaching (JiTT).
- Revise teaching materials to ensure they are free from racial bias.
- Incorporate an engaged learning strategy into a lecture or other teaching session.
